An overview of the day
We will meet at the Barn, where we will take a short walk to get a view of the river. We'll chat about where we do and don't want to be on the river when paddling. We'll organise the logistics, and get the vehicles in the right places.
Once that's out of the way, and we've done a safety brief, we begin on slow moving water, learning positioning, trim, eddies, ferry glides, power strokes, hanging draws and other jargon that at first can appear quite scary. As the day builds so does your confidence and knowledge base on paddling mechanics.
For those that wish we will also cover rescue techniques from the water.
Our instructors have decades of experience on some of the most remote waters in the world to pull on to ensure you have a fun and action packed day to give you the confidence to get on the water.
We culminate the day with some of the biggest white water in the area for you to take our canoes down the slalom course in Matlock Bath... a wonderful confidence builder under the expert safe eye of our team.
