Join us for one of our popular craft workshops and customise your own Ferrocerium rod with a beautiful wooden handle.
Arguably one of the most useful Bushcraft tools, on this half-day workshop you will learn how to handle your own Ferro-rod blank from sustainably sourced wood, and a striker to go with it. We will cover safe use of tools as well as guiding you through the techniques most appropriate to produce an ergonomic grip for your fire steel.
Once your Ferro rod is finished, we'll discuss how to use it. Our instructor will show you a selection of natural and man made tinders that you can practice with, ensuring you can light a fire in any condition.

-Sanding and applying a finish
-Creating a striker
-Learning how to use a ferrocerium rod efficiently
-Sourcing and utilising natural and man made tinder

The Ferro rod you make is yours to take away! If you wish to make an antler handled fire steel, that can be arranged with a small extra charge of £5, payable on the day. This course is for over 16's although under 18's must be accompanied by an adult. Workshops are held at our World Of Bushcraft Centre in the Peak District, where free tea and coffee will be available.
