Woodland Ways Tick Remover with Magnifier
This convenient card is roughly the same size as a credit card, and weighs next to nothing. Ideal for keeping in your wallet, purse, pocket, car, rucksack, first aid kit, everywhere!
The built in magnifier means you can see the tick clearly, and decide which of the two removal tools are best for that sized tick.
Removing a tick as quickly and efficiently as possible is likely to reduce any stress experienced by the tick, and therefore the chance of transfer of any diseases. You may hear some old tales of smothering them, burning them off, but these methods will agitate the tick and are more likely increasing the odds of disease transfer. We strongly advise against these and using a tick card or tool is the best option.
Removal of a tick is quick and easy when done correctly. Simply slide the correct sized tool under the tick as close to the skin as possible, getting the tick as far up the slit in the card as possible. A gentle quarter turn of the card and then lift directly up away from the skin to remove the tick. Dispose of the tick, and keep an eye on the bite site.
It's worth making note of any rashes, or flu like symptoms you might have after removing a tick, and if you have any concerns, speak to your GP. Lymes disease is in the UK, and it's becoming more understood. If left untreated it can be life changing or even life threatening. Please see your GP if you have any symptoms after a tick bite, and request a test for Lymes disease.
