Woodland Ways Steel Flint Striker Animal
These beautifully made high quality steels are produced exclusively by Woodland Ways.
They are designed for creating sparks by striking a piece of flint.
These sparks come off at approx 400 degrees and are hot enough to light a piece of char cloth or other tinder and thus generate fire.
These steels have a high iron content which is key to producing a good shower of sparks as iron is a pyrophoric material (from the Greek pyrophoros meaning 'fire-bearing').
This 4mm thick steel is designed for those of you who prefer to source your own tinder and flint.
