During this 1 day course you are invited to join our ML or HML qualified instructors to unlock the mysteries of the humble map and gain confidence in route planning and compass skills.
The course is split between a morning of classroom work before we walk out the door to get "hands on". You will be provided with a map of the area, a compass and guided through all of the skills necessary to plan and execute your own navigational lowland walks using the footpath network.
This course is based from our head office in Rowsley in the beautiful Peak District National Park. The day runs from 09:30-16:30 ish.
This course gives the perfect balance between learning the basics in the comfort of an indoor space before setting foot outside the door to put everything into practice on the footpaths of the Peak District National Park around the Haddon Hall Estate. Map and compass will be provided, although you're welcome to bring your own. Tea and coffee will be available while in the classroom but a packed lunch, water bottle and suitable clothing/footwear is then needed as we head out in the afternoon.
Nestled in the heart of the Peak District our World Of Bushcraft Centre allows a covered warm space to undertake both short and long duration workshops.
