Hultafors Safety Knife - Carbon Steel Yellow

The Hultafors Safety Knife is exactly what it says it is, a knife designed with a dull point, developed and adapted to minimise sticking injuries.

Ideal for use by people who are not used to working with knives and for younger persons.

The knife blade is manufactured from Japanese knife steel, 2.5 mm carbon steel that has been hardened to 58-60 HRC. The handle and sheath are made from extra durable PP plastic, the handle is bright yellow making it easy to see when placed on the woodland floor.

The sheath has a belt loop as well as a button attachment and a large thumb lever to assist the easy removal of the knife from the sheath.

Blade length 8.5cm
Total length 25cm

So what do our instructors think?
Here Jason writes"We decided to trial this knife with some of the work that we do with younger adults (by that I mean 8 year olds...), we were very very pleased. You could see the hair returning to the heads of the instructors as the stress levels of monitoring children with knives lessened... slightly. If I was a child, I would want my dad to buy me this, but it isn't just about the kids, if your work does not involve using the tip of the knife, then this would be ideal"

Advantages: Blade does not have a sharp point so reduces the risk of stick injuries. Has a Carbon steel blade so it is easier to sharpen than stainless steel blade. Bright yellow handle so easy to see on the woodland floor.

Disadvantages: Will not hold its edge as long as a stainless steel blade so you will need to keep your sharpening stone handy. As it does not have a point it is no good for perforating, but if you do not do this then hey ho...

It is illegal to supply a knife or blade to anyone under the age of 18. Woodland Ways actively checks the details of all orders for knives, and other edged items. Should we be unable to confirm your eligibility, you will be asked to provide proof of age in the form of a photocopy of your drivers licence or passport.
