When you arrive

On arrival at the car park, our staff will introduce themselves and the topic of Foraging. We will cover the legal framework that guides us as we forage within the United Kingdom.

The morning begins

We'll get all of our kit on our backs and once armed with a foraging bag or basket, we'll start our walk. Where we go within our sites is up to the instructor, but we will stop and discuss a huge range of valuable resources that are in season.

We will focus on edible and medicinal plants and trees, but we will also discuss other reasons we might wish to forage. Fire lighting materials, shelter building materials, cordage, materials to make baskets or tools are all out there in the woods to be discovered. On the walk, we will show you how to sustainably and responsibly harvest these resources, and you will be invited to try some things straight from the source.

The afternoon

We'll arrive at camp in the afternoon with baskets and bags full of ingredients to start making our delicious Bushcraft lunch. We'll take you to the game preparation area and show you how to remove the meat from a game bird. This will form the main of our lunch, though dietary requirements are catered for - please make a note of this on your booking. You will be involved with the cooking of your lunch in a communal effort, learning the valuable skill of Campfire Cooking. We use cast iron dutch ovens over an open fire, along with other methods and equipment, to impart incredible flavour to your food .
