Wood Tools Ltd is the venture of father and daughter, the idea apparently began while Robin was teaching spoon carving courses. Robin grew frustrated by the lack of a perfect carving axe to recommend to beginners. So he set out to get his own made.
The Robin Wood Carving Axe is a razor sharp axe that will do anything from felling small trees to splitting firewood. Where it really excels is as a carving axe. For many years there has not been a good carving axe available that came sharp and ready to use for less than £100. This axe changes things.
The axe heads are drop forged abroad and then ground and honed by Wood Tools in Sheffield. The hickory handles are made in the UK and have a knurled finish for grip and are treated with linseed oil.
The weight of the head is 550g and the total weight around 720g (1lb 9oz), handle length is 12.5 inches (31cm).
This is a good mid-weight carving axe that most people will use easily without getting tired, yet still heavy enough to remove wood quickly.
Optional: Each Carving axe can come supplied with a top quality recycled fire hose mask. The marks are made with strong rivets and brass press studs. They are a snug fit and will keep the sharp edge of your axe safe for many years.
It is illegal to supply an edged tool to any person under the age of 18. Woodland Ways actively checks the details of all orders for axes, and other edged items.
